AKRON-A total of 97 exhibitors and more than 300 paid delegates from around the world are expected in Akron Sept. 20-22 for the International Tire Exhibition and Conference. The inaugural conference and exhibition, which organizers say is the first to address the needs of tire manufacturers, is being organized by Rubber & Plastics News (RPN), a sister publication of TIRE BUSINESS.
More than 60 industry experts are scheduled to present papers relating to tire technology, manufacturing and marketing during ITEC's technical and business conference, chaired by Harold Herzlich, technical editor of RPN and a 35-year veteran of the tire and rubber industry.
An important aspect of ITEC will be its international flavor, according to Robert S. Simmons, RPN publisher and publications director of TIRE BUSINESS.
``We expect a lot of informal exchange of information,'' Mr. Simmons said, noting ITEC has confirmed delegates from Czechoslovakia, Egypt, Germany, Poland, Sweden and Zaire, among other countries. ``This isn't the old-boy network of the tire industry. This is the new-boy network of the international tire industry.''
Pre-registration for ITEC is $275. The on-site fee is $350; single-day registration is $125. For more information on ITEC, contact Cindy Stevens: (216) 836-9180. Fax: (216) 836-1005.
