Deas Tire Co., based in Gulfport, Miss., bought Laurel, Miss.-based Richard's Tire Center, a combination retail/commercial/retread shop, April 27, according to Jim White, Deas Tire general manager. That Laurel store is the eighth outlet and fourth Bandag retread shop Deas Tire operates in Mississippi and Alabama.
Former Richard's Tire owner, Richard Hodges is working for Deas Tire as a salesman.
In October, Deas Tire opened a truck tire center and Bandag shop it constructed in Gulfport, moving its commercial operation out of a combination retail/commercial outlet in that city. The retail store remains at its location, Mr. White said.
The truck tire center, which includes a warehouse, has two drive-through bays and one alignment bay. The Bandag shop produces about 88 retread a day.
Bloomsburg. Pa.-based Steve Shannon Tire Co. Inc. celebrated the opening of its third outlet with an Aug. 1 cookout, owner Steve Shannon said.
The 10,500-sq.-ft., six-bay retail outlet is located in Danville, Pa., giving the six-year-old dealership coverage in a 100-mile radius around Bloomsburg, Mr. Shannon said.
Steve Shannon Tire, a retail, commercial and wholesale operation, carries Kumho, BFGoodrich, Firestone, Michelin and Laramie brand tires and derives about 50 percent of its sales from automotive service.
Passenger and light truck tires account for about 75 percent of the operation's tire sales, he said.
EW Tire & Service Centers Inc. opened its ninth combination retail/commercial outlet in Pennsylvania on May 1.
The eight-bay facility, located in Castle Shannon, offers Goodyear and Hallmark tires and provides some automotive service, according to store manager Craig Black.
The nine EW Tire outlets are located in the southwestern portion of Pennsylvania.
