JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-Jointly owned Automotive Industries Inc. of Jacksonville and ServiceMax Tire & Auto Centers Inc. of Flint, Mich., have each added an outlet to their operations while pursuing a five-year expansion plan. Both dealerships are subsidiaries of Acorn Venture Capitol Corp. of New York, a publicly held business development company that bought Automotive Industries from majority owner General Tire last December.
``These two new store openings illustrate our commitment to long-term expansion. Our five-year plan is to own and operate 75 stores for Acorn Venture Capitol Corp. and its stockholders,'' said Orland Wolford, president and CEO of both retail tire chains. With the latest expansions, each chain claims 28 outlets.
Automotive Industries, which operates stores in Florida and Georgia under the names of Jim Martin Tire, Wall Tire Distributors, Mott Tire, Kehoe Tire and Daytona Discount Tire, had converted a non-tire store to a Wall Tire Maximum Auto Care outlet on May 1 in Augusta, Ga.
The six-bay, 10,000-sq.-ft. facility is the fifth Augusta location and carries General, Pirelli, Armstrong, Dayton, Michelin, Falken, Hoosier and Visa brand tires.
The new ServiceMax location, slated to open in mid-July, will be the dealership's eighth site in the greater Flint market.
Mr. Wolford said he expects to open four more locations by the end of the year. The company is eyeing sites along the Eastern seaboard between North Carolina and West Palm Beach, Fla.
