BINGHAM TO HEAD TENN. GROUP

    ALGOOD, Tenn.-The Tennessee Tire Dealers & Retreaders Association elected John Bingham of Bartlett Tire Service Inc., Bartlett, president during its annual convention, May 12-15, in Memphis. The TTDRA also installed Johnny Huddleston of East Tennessee Tire, Knoxville, president-elect; Brooks Harris of Universal Tire Inc., Nashville, first vice president; Jimmy Crews of Tire Treads Inc., Jackson, second vice president; Shaw Jared of Milton Jones Tire, Manchester, treasurer; and Larry Garland of Garland Tire Co., Erwin, secretary.

    NTDRA to host Soputhfork party

    WASHINGTON-Those attending the National Tire Dealers & Retreaders Association's 74th Annual Convention and Trade Show will have opportunities to visit the Southfork Ranch of TV-series Dallas fame, and to win a new car.

    The convention will be held at the Dallas Convention Center in Dallas, Sept. 8-11.

    In addition to educational seminars and a 230-exhibitor trade show, on Sept. 10 the convention will feature a ``Southfork Ranch Party'' at the setting of the former TV series. The event will include a tour of the ranch and the ``Ewing mansion,'' a country/western show with a band and entertainers and a Texas-style barbecue. Tickets for the Southfork party are $44 per person.

    A drawing for a new Pontiac automobile, provided by Cooper Tire & Rubber Co., will be held during the ``Breakfast with the President,'' also Sept. 10.

    Each convention registrant from an NTDRA tire dealer or retreader member firm will receive a ticket for the drawing. They must be present at the breakfast to be eligible to win.

    OTDRA elects Gump president

    BARBERTON, Ohio-The Ohio Tire Dealers & Retreaders Association named Brian Gump of Ziegler Tire & Oil Co., Akron, as its president for 1994-95.

    During its convention in Cambridge, Ohio, June 24-26, the state association also tapped David Russo of Bell Tire Co., Cleveland, first vice president; Tony Vizyak of Great Lakes Tires Inc., Sandusky, second vice president; and Mike Broadwater of Tyres International Inc., Columbus, treasurer.

    Strawser assumes MARA helm

    LANCASTER, Pa.-The Mid Atlantic Retreaders Association gave its executive secretary, John Strawser of Rhoadstar Retreading Inc., Quarryville, Pa., the added title of president for a one-year term during its quarterly meeting, June 7, in Stroudsburg, Pa.

    The 37-member retreader group also re-elected Bill Yoder of Yoder Tire, Towanda, Pa., first vice president; Ken Kline of K&W Tire Co. Inc., Lancaster, Pa., second vice president; and Robert San Jule of O'Shea Tire Service Inc., Cortland, N.Y., treasurer.

    The association's next meeting, with a focus on retread sales, is slated for Oct. 4 at the Sheraton-Pocono Inn, Stroudsburg.

    FITDRA taps Evans president

    ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla.-The Florida Independent Tire Dealers & Retreaders Association installed Mike Evans of Evans Tires & Treads Inc., Orlando, president during its convention in Orlando, May 19-21.

    Other newly elected officers include: Bob Weatherly of Beachside Tire & Automotive, Jacksonville Beach, first vice president; Jim Santy of Brandon Tire, Valrico, second vice president; and Bob Dearmin of C*&*D Tire, Melbourne, secretary-treasurer.

    The new directors include: Steve Dearmin of C*&*D Tire, Satellite Beach; Louis McKay of Dolphin Tire Co., West Palm Beach; Terry Moore of Dealers Supply, Tampa; Sherry Marcoe of Jeff Clay & Sons Inc., Kissimmee; Kelley Rowland of Citrus Tire & Automotive Center, Inverness; and Red Stevens of Daytona Wheels Inc., Daytona Beach.

    The association said it has reached the 600-member goal set last year at the beginning of its membership recruitment drive.
