'Bounty' offered to boost roster
AUSTIN, Texas-The Texas Tire Dealers & Retreaders Association hopes to boost its roster from 370 to 570 this year by offering a $50 cash ``bounty'' to any member who brings in a new member.
The goal was set during the group's annual convention, March 11-13, in Galveston, where the TTDRA installed Bonnie Moreland Jr. of Golden Star Tire Inc., Texarkana, president; Tim Hughes of Superior Tire & Service, Orange, president-elect; Ricky Ivey of Pueblo Tire Co., McAllen, vice president; Jerry Hamilton of Hamilton Dunlop Tire & Auto, Mineral Wells, treasurer; and Donald R. Williams of Williams Tire Store, Coleman, secretary.
The TTDRA also bestowed its ``New Idea'' award on Mr. Ivey for his redesign of the state's bid form for tire procurement. Mr. Ivey worked with the state General Services Administration last year to streamline the previously ``intimidating'' form so as to encourage more tire dealers and retreaders to bid on government contracts.
Jerry White of White Tire Supply, Beaumont, received the Ambassador Award, the association's highest honor, for his contributions to the TTDRA, including monitoring legislative issues and calling on state representatives.
The TTDRA has scheduled its next convention for April 21-23, 1995, in Fort Worth.
