LOUISVILLE, Ky.-The American Retreaders' Association re-elected its officers-including President Michael Berra of Community Tire Co. Inc., St. Louis; Vice President William Babek of Babek Commercial Tire Services, Avenel, N.J.; and Secretary-Treasurer Daniel Fedie of Bauer Built Inc., Durand, Wis.-for another term during the ARA World Tire Conference & Exhibition, April 21-23, in Louisville. John Olson of Olson Tire Service, Mount Pleasant, Mich., and Richard Gust of Achievor Tire L.P., Chicago, joined the board of directors for three-year terms, replacing outgoing directors Joseph Kilcoyne of Oliver Rubber Co. and Dan Roberts of Les Schwab Tire Centers Inc.
The ARA also tapped Doug Geiger of Valley Enterprises Ltd., Eugene, Ore., Stephanie McCoubrey, executive director of the California Tire Dealers & Retreaders Association-North, and Tom Raben of Raben Tire Co., Evansville, Ind., as new members of the association's advisory council.
Show to discuss scrap market
PLYMOUTH, Minn.-Goodyear's Andy Eastman, manager of facilities engineering, will provide an overview of the scrap tire market during the North Central Tire Dealers & Suppliers Association's summer convention at the Best Western Apache Hotel in Rochester, Minn., May 20-21.
The convention also will feature a Bandag Inc. representative, who will discuss tire zipper problems, and a Bank One, Dayton, representative, who will explain the Money Express credit program offered through the National Tire Dealers & Retreaders Association.
To commemorate the regional association's 30th anniversary, the convention will include a banquet to honor all past NCTDSA presidents.

Gingo to keynote Calif. show
ANAHEIM, Calif.-Joseph Gingo, Goodyear vice president of worldwide tire technology, will address dealers during the annual California Tire Dealers & Retreaders Association convention, June 1-5, at the Wyndham Hotel in Palm Springs.
The convention also will feature workshops on California's labor laws; customer service; add-on sales and profits from alignment service; proper disposal methods for coolants and other waste; how to meet environmental obligations and still make a profit; and planning a tax-free retirement.
With the theme, ``The road to the future and more starts in Palm Springs in '94,'' members of the CTDRA-North and CTDRA-South also will participate in a 100-booth trade show and golf tournament.

NCTDRA taps Davis president
DURHAM, N.C.-The North Carolina Tire Dealers & Retreaders Association elected Jan Davis of Jan Davis Tire Stores Inc., Asheville, president during its convention, held jointly with the Virginia Tire & Automotive Service Dealers Association, March 18-20, in Charlottesville, Va.
The group also installed Gary Baldree of Baldree's Inc., New Bern, president-elect; Jerry Phillips of Avery County Tire, Newland, vice president; and Curtis Potter of Potter Oil & Tire Co., Aurora, secretary-treasurer.
New directors include: Bob Briggs of Briggs & Sons Tire, Fayetteville; Ken Park of Roosevelt Tire Service, Gastonia; Ross Perry of Perry Brothers Tire Service, Sanford; Ed Rusher of Rusher Tire Inc., Salisbury; and Norman Young of Norman Young Tire Center, Elizabeth City.
The two associations have slated their next convention and trade show for March 17-19 at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel and Convention Center in Research Triangle Park, N.C. The NCTDRA also plans to host eight area membership meetings this fall to discuss how dealers can prepare for OSHA visits and to review state legislative issues.
Atlantic TDA re-elects officers
