FINDLAY, Ohio-TBC Corp. signed a new 10-year supply agreement with Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. April 25. The pact is designed to enhance and develop a number of initiatives in product planning, distribution and administration tailored to better service the market, the two companies announced.
Since 1971, Findlay-based Cooper has manufactured private brand auto and light truck tires for TBC, a major private brand marketer/distributor based in Memphis, Tenn.
``Our commitment to TBC and the private brand market has never been stronger and we are looking forward to building even closer ties to one of our largest customers with new efficiencies,'' Cooper President and COO Patrick W. Rooney said.
TBC President Louis DiPasqua said the new supply contract is ``a commitment to sustain the partnership and enhance its benefits'' such as in the areas of production, distribution and handling. It doesn't specify amounts to be purchased or supplied, he said.
Mr. DiPasqua said TBC is considering enhancing its tire line-up with all-steel light truck and medium truck tires to be produced at Cooper's updated Albany, Ga., plant.
TBC distributes its tires through a network of distributors who, according to TBC, serve approximately 20,000 independent tire dealers. TBC garnered $569 million in sales last year.
Mr. DiPasqua said the new agreement with Cooper is similar to a new 10-year pact TBC signed in March with its largest supplier, Kelly-Springfield Tire Co.
