HUDSON, Ohio-Rosetta Zielasko, wife of TIRE BUSINESS founding editor Ernest H. Zielasko, died April 18 after a lengthy illness. She was 71. Mrs. Zielasko was a shareholder in Heer Publishing Corp., a company Mr. Zielasko formed to publish Rubber & Plastics News, which is a sister publication of TIRE BUSINESS.
Mrs. Zielasko served as RPN's office manager and handled all classified advertising in the newspaper's early days.
For many years she accompanied her husband to tire and rubber industry activities, both in the U.S. and abroad, where she was a popular figure known for her charm and social grace.
Born in Canton, Ohio, Mrs. Zielasko worked for National Rubber Machinery from 1953-1955 and married Mr. Zielasko in 1953.
Besides her husband and her son, David, editor of TIRE BUSINESS, Mrs. Zielasko is survived by another son, Philip; two daughters-in-law; and two grandaughters. She was preceded in death by a third son, Jeffrey.
LA GRANGE, Ga.-Frank Wilkinson Jr., 74, former owner of West Point Tire Co. in West Point, Ga., died Feb. 1 in La Grange of complications from lung cancer.
He had been in the tire business since 1943 and had recently turned over ownership of West Point Tire, a firm he started in the late 1940s, to his son, Robert.
He was a member of the National Tire Dealers & Retreaders Association and the Georgia Tire Dealers & Retreaders Association and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Besides Robert, survivors include another son, Frank; a daughter, Jayne Jay; and two grandchildren.
