STAUNTON, Va.-Ray Carr Tires Inc. is about to wrap up a cross promotion with a local Subway sandwich shop franchise that gave the dealership added exposure in the Staunton area, according to Gail Dovel, Ray Carr advertising coordinator. About three months ago, employees at the recently franchised Subway shop began distributing Ray Carr advertising flyers to customers buying sandwiches. In return, the Staunton location of Harrisonburg, Va.- based Ray Carr gave away discount coupons to customers and ``free sandwich'' coupons to anyone who had to wait longer than quoted repair times.
``It's going real well for us,'' Ms. Dovel said. ``It's giving both places completely different lines of customers.'' Ray Carr also has run a similar cross promotion with a local Papa John's pizza shop franchise, she added.
Ray Carr Tires has six retail sites in northwestern Virginia.
BFS promo touts Turanza tire line
NASHVILLE, Tenn.-Bridgestone/Firestone Inc. has introduced the ``Turanza World Class Touring Vacation Sweepstakes.'' to promote its Turanza touring tire line.
Running from March 15 to April 30, the sweepstakes offers consumers an opportunity to win a one-week, all-expenses-paid trip for two to the British Open golf tournament at Turnberry, Scotland; the Wimbledon Championship tennis tournament in London; or the Tour de France Championship bicycle race.
Two complete sets of Bridgestone golf clubs and three Bridgestone bicycles will be awarded as second- and third-place prizes respectively.
To enter, consumers must fill out an entry form at participating Bridgestone retailers. No purchase is required. Bridgestone dealers who co-sign the winning entry forms will receive matching prizes.
``We feel this promotion complements the Turanza touring tire's world class image,'' BFS Marketing Manager Mike Cerio said.
Kumgo promotes V700 successes
FONTANA, Calif.-Kumho U.S.A. Inc. celebrated recent racing successes of its V700 tire with a full-page ad in the December and January issues of Sports Car magazine.
The ad, which states ``Kumho races ahead of Goodyear, Yokohama and BFGoodrich,'' calls attention to the company's first-year accomplishments on the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) circuit: A win at Mid-Ohio; a lap record at Lime Rock Park; and third- and seventh-place finishes at Road Atlanta.
General sponsors science series
AKRON-General Tire is entering its 22nd year as a sponsor of ``Science Screen Report,'' an award-winning video series supplied to school districts by corporate sponsors.
School districts in Mayfield, Ky.; Bryan, Ohio; Odessa, Texas; and Mt. Vernon, Ill., sites of General Tire plants, received the tapes. General is one of 550 corporations in the U.S. that sponsor the program.
Bridgestone/Firestone Inc., Goodyear and Kelly-Springfield Tire Co. also participate.
