AKRON-Kumho U.S.A. Inc. has named former General Tire executive Guy Edington as general manager of the company's Akron- based technical center. In his new position, Mr. Edington will be responsible for the center's administration as well as for for monitoring North American marketing trends, the company said.
He also will oversee product planning, managing the exchange of technical information and communicating with Kumho's Technical Research Institute in Korea.
Mr. Edington previously was director of passenger and light truck tire development at General Tire.
Mr. Edington, who has 22 years of experience in the tire industry, said he believes Kumho has created a solid base for creating both products and applied technologies, the company said.
Born in Columbus, Ohio, Mr. Edington received a mechanical engineering degree from Ohio State University and has worked in the Akron area since 1972 as a tire design supervisor, an engineering manager and has directed testing and certification facilities.
