SAO PAULO Brazil-Goodyear subsidiary Compania Goodyear do Brasil has begun a $35 million expansion program, including construction of an export center at its main warehouse in SÃo Paulo, where capacity will increase 160 percent. According to Carlos Perez, Goodyear vice president of the Latin American region, Goodyear do Brasil's export business increased 12 percent in 1993 and now accounts for about 25 percent of the firm's annual sales of $700 million.
The company's two plants, in SÃo Paulo and Americana, are running at full capacity and turned out about 12.6 million tires last year.
Marangoni completes purchase
TRENTO, Italy-Marangoni S.p.A. has become the sole owner of its tire-manufacturing unit, Marangoni Tyre, having purchased the 33 percent previously held by Gepi, an investment company owned by the Italian government.
The move effectively ends the joint venture between Marangoni Group and Gepi, formed in 1989 to acquire the former Ceat passenger and light truck tire plant in Anagni, Italy.
