TROY, Mich.-El Dorado Tire Co. unveiled three tire lines during its national distributors' meeting Jan. 29 in Phoenix and announced plans to begin a three-tiered touring-tire marketing strategy by the end of 1994. Later this year, the private brand marketer plans to introduce: the El Dorado Legend, a 70-series touring tire scheduled to be available in 12 blackwall and six whitewall sizes; the El Dorado Vision GTS, its high performance cousin; and the Golden Fury GFT touring tire.
El Dorado, based in Troy, is touting the Legend as its ``premium'' 70-series tire with an 80,000-mile warranty. The Golden Fury will be offered as the low-end tire with the currently available El Dorado Crusader sitting in the middle of the company's ``good-better-best'' line-up, according to President J.T. Tyler.
The Golden Fury could be released by the beginning of this year's fourth quarter, Mr. Tyler said.
The high-performance Vision GTS will debut later this year in 19 raised letter and six blackwall 60, 65 and 70 series sizes.
Just prior to the January meeting, the company unveiled the El Dorado ZR1 all-season, light truck touring tire, which is available in six P-metric and eight LT sizes.
All of the tires are being made by Cooper Tire & Rubber Co.
About 40 El Dorado distributors attended the two-day meeting in Phoenix.
