Jack's Tire & Oil Co. recently acquired Valley Tire Inc., a commercial tire outlet in Boise, Idaho, giving the Logan, Utah-based dealership six locations. Valley Tire, managed by former owner Joe Ledgerwood, sells Goodyear, Michelin and Yokohama tires and Bandag retreads. Dave Bowen is president of Jack's, a commercial dealership opened in 1941. Cabot Outdoors, a John Deere Co. outdoor equipment store located in Cabot, Ark., opened Cabot Outdoor Tire Center in December to fill the need for a passenger and light truck tire outlet in that area, according to owner Cecil Wikel. The new center, which also offers front-end and brake service, is on the Cabot Outdoors property in a 2,500-sq.-ft. building.
Mr. Wikel said the outlet sold 40 tires by Jan. 1 and planned to launch its first advertising campaign in February.
Lansing, Mich.-based Liskey's Professional Wheel Service will hold a grand opening for its new location Feb. 28, after the city purchased the company's current building to facilitate a parking project, owner Ed Carpenter said.
The new 9,000-sq.-ft. facility, across the street from the current Liskey's outlet, will sell Dean private brand tires and provide front-end, brake and suspension service in its 14 bays. The new outlet officially opens March 1.
Mr. Carpenter said employees have been remodeling the new building for eight months.
Cort and Carroll Cole bought Dublin Tire Service in Dublin, Texas, Jan. 3 from Wayne Bear, who retired, according to a company spokesman. The 3,000-sq.-ft., two-bay store sells Kelly-Springfield passenger, truck and farm tires and performs front-end, brake and suspension service. Dublin Tire has four employees.

For the past six months, Kumho U.S.A. Inc. has been offering dealers the chance to purchase golf balls through its cooperative advertising program. The Performance Oriented Sports Equipment ball, the Pose-428, was developed by Kumho Technical Research Institute and High Precision Co. of the U.S. to meet U.S. Golf Association standards while delivering distance, accuracy and durability, the company said.
Dealers have been purchasing the balls for their own promotions, according to Y.E. Yoon, Kumho marketing manager.
Nitto Tire awarded a 1994 Mazda MX6 LS on Jan. 12 to Rick Teter, Wheel Warehouse, Anaheim, Calif., as the winner of the Nitto Tire NT-500Z National Sales Contest.
Mr. Teter, a Wheel Warehouse salesman for the past 12 years, took top honors among all Nitto dealers nationwide by selling the most NT-500Z ultra high-performance radials.
John Tucker of Tucker Tire Co. in Laguna Niguel, Calif., finished second and won a set of four NT-500Zs. All other eligible participants received racing jackets and matching sports caps.
