BRENTWOOD, Tenn.-Gabriel Ride Control Products Inc. is offering a point-of-sale display promoting the benefits of the MacPherson strut, according to William A. Lehman, vice president of sales and marketing. The hands-on display features a model of the strut suspension and a mini-strut manual, and is designed to make it easier for installers to explain the operation and benefits of the struts to customers.
``Most consumers do not understand why struts are more costly than conventional shocks,'' Mr. Lehman said. ``Unlike the shock, the MacPherson strut is part of the steering and the suspension system. It also supports the entire weight of the vehicle and dampens road vibrations.''
The cost of the display is $325 and includes a coupon for four free struts. Dealers also have the option of ordering a floor stand for an additional $115, which also includes a coupon for two free struts.
Gabriel, a division of Arvin Industries Inc., makes shocks and struts for the original equipment and replacement markets.
