WASHINGTON-The Scrap Tire Management Council and the National Solid Waste Management Association (NSWMA) will co-sponsor a series of six regional workshops on management and markets for scrap tires, waste oil and other difficult-to-recycle materials. The workshops will be designed for those seeking information on compliance or seeking to enter or expand existing scrap tire or automotive waste markets.
A series of experts will discuss state and federal regulations; handling and transportation issues; and existing markets and disposal options available in the given region.
``We are aware of an increasing interest in scrap tires by those in allied industries and these workshops will be an excellent way to reach a wider audience,'' said Michael Blumenthal, STMC executive director.
The workshops will be held in Providence, R.I., March 10-11; Baltimore, April 7-8; Dallas, May 2 in conjunction with the NSWMA annual conference; Atlanta, June 9-10; Tacoma, Wash., Sept. 22-24 in conjunction with the STMC conference; and Chicago, Oct. 6-7.
