In response to the Goodyear dealer's comment (Nov. 15 issue) that he isn't worried now that a nearby Wal-Mart is carrying his tire brand: Wal-Mart (Stores Inc.) didn't make a deal with Goodyear to sell tires to (Wal-Mart) customers. They made a deal to sell Goodyears to Goodyear customers. It's called expanding your trade base.
We are Uniroyal dealers and have had to cope with Kmart Corp. (selling) low-end Tiger Paws for the last eight years. They (mass merchandisers) will mess up your market big time.

Sense or Nonsense?
Tell dealers why it makes sense for the major manufacturers to take molds out of U.S. production, send them abroad and then bring the very same tires back for U.S. sales.
