CHARLOTTE, N.C. — CEAT Specialty Tires Inc. is adding a 42-inch rim-diameter size to its Farmax R70 radial agricultural tire line, a size the company said was developed particularly for U.S. Midwest farmers who operate larger, high-horsepower tractors.
CEAT will debut the new size at the Farm Progress Show in Decatur, Ill., set to run Aug. 27-29.
Charlotte-based CEAT Specialty Tires — the Charlotte-based U.S. sales/distribution subsidiary of Mumbai, India-based CEAT Ltd. — said the 710/70R42 size is the largest size produced to-date at the company's 2-year-old radial ag tire plant in Ambernath, India.
"This is part of our core philosophy to work with and learn from our end users — the farmers of America," Vijay Gambhire, managing director of CEAT Specialty Tyres Ltd., said.
"Our team is really looking forward to speaking with as many farmers as possible at the upcoming show."
Among the features and benefits of the Farmax R70, CEAT said, are:
- high roadability, thanks to a higher angle lug and lug overlap at the center;
- reduced soil compaction, thanks to a wider tread, larger inner volume and rounded rounded shoulders;
- "superior" traction, which CEAT attributes to lower shoulder angle tread elements; and
- extended service life thanks to an R1-W tread depth.
CEAT offers the Farmax R70 in 33 other sizes, ranging from 260/70R20 to 580/70R38.
