The Agri Star II features a multi-angle lug design that Alliance claims offers better traction and extra “eye appeal.”

WAKEFIELD, Mass. — Alliance Tire Americas Inc. is launching a line of R-1 radial farm tires, the Agri Star II, with a multi-angle lug design that Alliance claims offers better traction and extra "eye appeal."

The new tread design combines a single-angle layer stacked on top of a wider, multi-angle lug in a design Alliance calls "Stratified Layer Technology," which the company said offers a more stable, longer-lasting tread bar with added biting edges for better traction.

Brian Sheehey, vice president of marketing, calls the Agri Star II a "versatile, all-around performer for all classes of tractors" and said Alliance sees "extra benefits to the 140-hp and above categories switching from our standard FarmPRO line.

"With its long wear and Stubble Guard Compound, the Agri Star II is priced to deliver the lowest cost per 32nd [inch] of tread in the category," he added, "and its radial belts and durable carcass enlarge the tire's contact patch to 13% larger than a typical, comparably sized radial."

The tire also features a pair of step-tie bars under the lugs to anchor the tread, break up mud and minimize lug shuffling. In addition, the overlap of the two lug styles is designed to improve on-road performance, while the use of a polyester casing offers enhanced stability versus tires in the targeted price point that use nylon plies, Mr. Sheehey said.

ATA is offering a seven-year warranty on the new tire line, which launches in 76 sizes ranging from 260/70R16 to 710/70R42 and includes the popular 480/80R50.
