GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Wonderland Tire Co. has entered the Wisconsin market with its acquisition of Ray's Tire, a family-owned tire dealer and auto repair company that provides commercial and retail services from outlets in Appleton and Green Bay, Wis.
"We've always talked about doing business in (Wisconsin)," Wonderland COO Dave Langerak said.
"We're excited to expand our footprint and can now offer our AcuTread remanufactured tires in the Wisconsin area. ...
"Ray's, as a family-owned and -operated independent tire dealer, is exactly aligned with our business principles," he said.
Ray's Tire owner David Ellis plans to continue to work for Wonderland Tire as a manager of the Green Bay location, the company said.
"In making the decision to sell my third-generation family business, one of the most important factors for me was to find a company that had the same type of values," Ellis said.
"In Wonderland Tire, I could not have found a better fit. They have shown that they take care of their customers and employees, and I am excited to continue my career working for them."
Founded in 1937, Ray's Tire provides a full range of services, including brakes, alignments, oil changes and air-conditioning repairs. The dealership specializes in servicing passenger vehicles and local commercial fleets.
In addition to the two stores in Wisconsin, Wonderland operates 11 retail and commercial tire service locations in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee. The company also manufactures AcuTread mold cure retreaded tires.
