MURRAY, Ky. — Sun Auto Tire & Service is growing its footprint in southwestern Kentucky with a new Plaza Tire Service store in Murray.
The 6,500-sq.-ft. greenfield-construction store has eight service bays, like other Plaza Tire Service locations. Technicians will be able to install and repair tires, balance and align wheels, replace brakes, shocks, struts and batteries, change oil and perform other services.
The new store at 700 Plaza Way — across from Murray State University's baseball field — is the seventh Plaza Tire Service location in Kentucky and the 80th overall.
The company is part of Sun Auto Tire & Service, which has 514 locations nationwide.
Regional Vice President Rob Kingery said he was thrilled to bring Plaza Tire Service to Murray, noting the company has served western Kentucky since 1986.
"As we continue to grow, our focus remains on delivering top-quality tire and automotive service with the hometown feel our customers know and trust. We look forward to taking great care of the students, faculty, and the entire Murray community for years to come."
Plaza Tire Service is based in Cape Girardeau, Mo., and was founded in 1963 by Vernon "Pee Wee" Rhodes. In addition to shops in Kentucky, Plaza has stores in Missouri, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana and Arkansas.
The new location is one of six new stores Plaza has opened since late 2024. It follows new stores in Centerton and Paragould, Ark.; Quincy, Ill.; and Evansville, Ind., as well as the acquisition of American Tire & Wheel in Hot Springs, Ark.
