Sun Auto closes year with another acquisition

    Sun Auto Tire & Service Inc acquired Tire Outlet, a 14-store dealership in Northern Florida that has 95 bays and 133 employees.at the end of 2022.

    PHOENIX — Sun Auto Tire & Service Inc. closed 2022 with its sixth acquisition of the year, inching it closer to 400 locations nationwide.

    The private equity-owned dealers acquired Tire Outlet, a 14-store dealership in Northern Florida that has 95 bays and 133 employees.

    Sun Auto did not disclose the purchase price. Almost all Sun Tire acquisitions retain local branding.

    The acquisition brings to 385 the number of locations that Sun Auto Tire operates, with brands in 18 states.

     

    Sun Auto said it acquired 11 automotive brands and 77 locations in 2022.

    Sun Auto said it acquired 11 automotive brands and 77 locations in 2022. The others include:

    Toscalito Tire & Automotive, with five locations and 33 bays in California (October);

    TGK Automotive Specialists, with 24 stores and 183 service bays, primarily in Minnesota with one Arizona (October);

    Superior Tire, with four stores in northwest Arizona (April);

    Good Neighbor Tire & Auto Service; a full-service tire and automotive repair brand with two locations each in Washington state and Oregon (May);. and

    Coopers Auto Repair Specialists, with two locations in Washington state (July).

    Chris Garman, vice president of development, said the company "is working to provide an extraordinary experience for our customers from minor maintenance services to extensive repairs. This fast-paced growth ensures that we are able to provide this service to more customers across the country while maintaining the legacy and reputations of the brands we acquire."

    Tire Outlet Market Director Rob Duckworth said the dealership is "excited" to become part of the Sun Auto family and is "looking forward to continuing our growth and creating opportunities for the future."

    Sun Auto said it has plans to continue growing throughout 2023.
