Sun Auto adds stores in Oklahoma, California

MESA, Ariz. — Sun Auto Tire & Service has acquired three Cecil & Sons Discount Tires stores in the greater Tulsa, Okla., area, and opened a Ramona Tire & Service Center location in Murrieta, Calif.

The Cecil & Sons stores join the company's seven Tate Boys Tire & Service locations in Oklahoma.

The latest expansion comes on the heels of the dealership's acquisition of 33 Caliber Auto Care locations in Texas in June.

Cecil & Sons Discount Tires was founded as a two-bay service station in 1973 by Cecil Cox. The business grew to three locations run by Cox's sons Brian and Troy.

"When it came to selling the business that our father built over 50 years ago, Sun Auto Tire & Service made perfect sense as a partner," Brian Cox said.

"They successfully acquired Tate Boys Tire & Service — another local family-owned business — while carefully maintaining the family culture that made them special," Cox said.

"Troy and I chose to sell to Sun because we are confident the Cecil & Sons Discount Tires family would be treated with the same level of care and respect. We're confident that the team at Sun Auto Tire & Service are the ideal partner to trust with our family's business."

The new Ramona Tire outlet in Murrieta is the dealership's 18th store under that name. It's located on Clinton Keith Road in northeast Murrieta, a city of 110,000-plus residents in southwestern Riverside County in Southern California.

"Ramona Tire teammates have professionally served the Inland Empire for over 50 years now. Five-star service and dedication to the customer have been what makes us special and led to the growth of the business," Sun Auto Senior Regional Vice President Chris Wyborny said.

"We have seen the demand from our customers for more of our service centers in their neighborhoods, and we're excited to provide a new, modern facility to serve the Murrieta area."

The new 5,000-sq.-ft. store features eight bays to perform a full catalog of services, including oil changes, tires and all automotive maintenance and repair services.

The state-of-the-art facility also will perform the Sun360 Digital Vehicle Inspection (DVI), which enhances transparency and trust with customers, the company said.

The DVI provides detailed information about a vehicle's condition so customers can make informed decisions about their vehicle repairs.

Sun Auto operates 478 locations throughout the U.S.
