POTOSI, Mo. — Purcell Tire & Rubber Co. has made its second acquisition in the last three months, acquiring Lowe Industrial Tire Service in Grand Prairie, Mo.
The one-location shop will become Purcell store No. 32, and owner Jason Lowe will join the Purcell team.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Purcell Tire & Rubber Co. recently acquired Callender Tire Inc., a retail and commercial tire dealership in Commerce City, Colo.
Purcell said Lowe Industrial, which has a one location with only one employee, will expand Purcell's footprint in the greater Kansas City area.
Purcell Tire CEO Roger Lucas said his dealership is "excited about bringing Jason Lowe to our team."
"The prospects that this expansion provides and the markets that it opens aligns with our vision to deliver superior customer service to the entire tire and automotive industry," he said.
Robert M. Purcell opened the first Purcell Tire and Service Center location in 1936 in Washington, Mo., before establishing a second location in Granite City, Ill., in 1951.
Robert M.'s son, Robert G. Purcell, opened a third location in De Soto, Mo., in 1964. Under the younger Purcell and his wife, Juanita, the dealership has expanded to more than 72 service locations in 15 states and five countries, with six retread plants and a fleet of vehicles that provide pick-up and delivery service to 48 states.
Purcell Tire offers 24-hour roadside service and mobile tire fleet service vans at several locations.
According to Tire Business rankings Purcell Tire is the 10th largest commercial tire dealership in the U.S. with $285.2 million in sales in 2021 and the 10th largest commercial tire retreader in the U.S. (tied with Bauer Built Inc.) with 8.2 million pounds of tread rubber consumerd in 2021.
