POTOSI, Mo. — Purcell Tire & Rubber Co. has acquired Jack's Tire & Oil Inc. of Logan, Utah.
The integration of the 88-year-old Purcell Tire with the 77-year-old Jack's Tire brings together two of the largest commercial tire dealerships in the U.S., with operations involved in commercial, OTR, retail, retreading and automotive services.
Purcell is the 10th largest commercial tire dealership in North America, according to Tire Business rankings, with $285 million in sales in 2023. Purcell is also the 10th largest medium truck tire retreader. Purcell operates five truck tire retread plants, two giant tire plants and four distribution centers.
Jack's Tire is the 19th largest commercial tire dealership with $135.6 million in sales in 2023 and the 17th largest truck tire retreader with five Michelin truck retread plants.
Jack Bowen founded Jack's Tire in 1947. Dave Bowen took ownership in 1974, leading the company's expansion into Utah and Idaho during the 1970s and 1980s. In 1999, the company became a Michelin Retread Technologies franchisee. Later expansions included into Phoenix in 2004 and Fresno, Calif., in 2010, and the acquisition of A&E Tire in 2020, which had been in business since 1986.
