ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Monro Inc. has completed its acquisition of eight retail tire outlets in Louisiana, boosting the network of Tire Choice-rebadged stores in the Pelican State to 20.
Monro, earlier this year, moved into Louisiana for the first time with the acquisition of Allied Discount Tire & Brake Inc. It rebadged the Lafayette, La.-based dealership's 12 retail locations in southern Louisiana with its Tire Choice brand.
The additional stores acquired more recently operated under four names and ownerships:
- Atlas Tire & Auto in Covington — Jim Birch;
- Scotty's Tire & Auto in Kenner — Scott Zimmerman;
- Twin Tire & Automotive in Hammond, Harvey and Marrero — Dennis and Jimmy Richard; and
- T-Boys Tire & Auto in Lafayette (two stores) and Youngsville — Richie and Rick Zimmerman.
Collectively, the eight stores more recently acquired represent $12 million in annualized sales, split 50/50 tires/auto service, according to Monro, which disclosed the pending acquisitions in its fiscal 2020 first quarter earnings report.
According to information posted online, Twin Tire & Auto Care was established in 1973 in New Orleans by twin brothers Dennis and James Richard Sr. — hence the name Twin Tire.
Background information on the other dealerships acquired was not readily available.
Monro did not reply to a query from Tire Business requesting more information.
