AMSTERDAM — Sri Lankan specialty tire maker Global Rubber Industries (Pvt.) Ltd. (GRI) has acquired the Klumpenaar Industriebanden B.V., a Dutch materials-handling tire aftermarket service and distribution business.

Founded in 2010, Klumpenaar has grown rapidly since inception and built a sound reputation for outstanding customer service, GRI said.

It's GRI's fifth global acquisition in the past five years. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"We are happy to welcome Klumpenaar to the global network of GRI. The European market has always held exciting growth prospects for GRI, and the Netherlands has been a focal point," GRI Managing Director Prabhash Subasinghe said.

Klumpenaar has been an importer of GRI tires since 2018, he said. "We see immense potential to grow our business even further in the Netherlands."

GRI has a "vibrant presence" in the Netherlands through its high-grade materials-handling tire range, GRI CEO Mahesha Ranasoma said.

"Klumpenaar has always prided itself on providing customers with a great product and a high level of service. We are happy to be inheriting this legacy from them as they pass the baton over to GRI to continue with this successful growth story."

Klumpenaar has a warehouse and office complex in Ede, a city of 120,000 inhabitants in central Netherlands. The company boasts experienced professionals, some of whom have over 30 years of experience in the specialty tire market and have gained the trust and respect of customers across the Dutch market, GRI said.

"We are pleased and proud to be part of GRI's global network," Klumpenaar's Herman Klumpenaar said. "I founded Klumpenaar Industriebanden to provide superior service and high-quality tires to forklift dealers, operators, forklift service companies and end-users in the Netherlands.

"Our company is a flat organization with dedicated people, which ensures that we respond quickly and accurately to customers. The right service and flexibility are of paramount importance, and I am confident that under GRI's leadership, we will scale even greater heights."

GRI also has acquired entities in the U.S., Australia, Spain and the Baltics in the last five years with a goal of capturing growth in these respective markets, the company said.

GRI has corporate offices and operations in nine countries, with a business presence in more than 50 countries.
