FARGO, N.D. — North Shore Holdings L.L.C. — owner of Branick Industries Inc. — has acquired the trademarks and intellectual property of the Safety Seal tire repair products business.
Fargo-based North Shore Holdings plans to move production of the Safety Seal product line to Fargo from Peabody, Mass., where it had been for more than five decades under North Shore Laboratories Corp.
Financial terms of the sale were not disclosed.
The Safety Seal business will operate within the Branick factory in Fargo but will be considered a separate company, according to Tom Bolgrean, president of North Shore Holdings and Branick.
North Shore intends to continue working with the existing Safety Seal distribution network, Mr. Bolgrean said, both domestically and internationally and will augment that by tapping into the Branick sales network where appropriate.
To ensure continuity for customers, North Shore Holdings will retain Safety Seals' existing contact information, website and phone line — 800-888-9021.
"North Shore Holdings is thrilled with the opportunity to continue the long history of Safety Seal," Mr. Bolgrean said.
"A lot of shops rely on the Safety Seal line of products and we will ensure they can continue to rely on them for many years to come. Our association with Branick Industries, … provides an increased customer base in addition to the existing network."
Alec Niconchuk developed the Safety Seal self-vulcanizing permanent on-the-wheel repair product in 1964. To date, more than 1 billion Safety Seal repairs have been sold worldwide, according to North Shore Laboratories.
Production of Safety Seal products in Fargo is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2020. The move will create an undisclosed number of new jobs.
