Editorial Staff
	Dave Zielasko, Editor and VP/Publisher Dave joined Tire Business as assistant managing editor in March 1985. He became managing editor of the trade newspaper several months later and was named editor in January 1987. He added the title of associate publisher in January 1995 and was promoted to publisher in May 1998. In 1999, he was named vice president/publisher of Tire Business. In November 2004, Zielasko also was named publisher of sister publication Rubber & Plastics News, a trade newspaper covering the rubber industry worldwide. Dave is a 1977 graduate of Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio, where he earned a bachelor's degree in biology/management. 	Sigmund J. Mikolajczyk, Managing Editor Sig joined Tire Business in 1991 and has held reporter, senior reporter and assistant managing editor positions. He was named managing editor in 2001. In that role, Sig manages the daily news operation of the newspaper, orchestrates its layout and oversees reporters, correspondents and freelance writers. Sig also writes the Marketplace humor column. Prior to joining Tire Business, he worked for Mount Sinai Medical Center in Cleveland as a staff writer and photographer and also spent 16 years as an editor/photojournalist for the newspaper of the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland where he was editorial page and graphics editor and chief photographer until 1988. A 1974 Journalism School graduate of Kent State University in Ohio, Sig has won numerous awards for reporting and photography from state and national news organizations. 	Bruce Davis, Special Projects Reporter Bruce has been with Tire Business since its inception in 1983, helping create the business plan, format, design and content with then-editor and publisher Ernie Zielasko. Prior to that he was a reporter and marketing editor of Rubber & Plastics News from August 1980 to December 1982. Bruce was managing editor of Tire Business from 1983 to 1985, when he become the European correspondent for Tire Business, Rubber & Plastics News, European Rubber Journal and Urethanes Technology, all published by Crain Communications. He moved to Frankfurt, Germany, where he covered the European tire and rubber industry for all four magazines for the next 12 years, returning to the Akron office in early 1996 as special projects editor for Tire Business and Rubber & Plastics News. In his current role, Bruce heads up special projects such as the Global Tire Report and rankings of retailers, commercial dealers, retreaders and wholesalers among other topics. 	Miles D. Moore, Senior Washington Reporter Miles has been a Tire Business staff member since its founding in 1983. He covers tire industry news from Washington, D.C., reporting on federal regulatory affairs, congressional action, the White House and Supreme Court activities as well as recycling and many other subjects. In 2003 he was promoted to senior Washington reporter. Miles first joined Rubber & Plastics News in 1977 after graduating from Ohio University with a bachelor's degree in journalism. 	Vera Linsalata, Senior Reporter Vera joined Tire Business in October 1997 as a reporter and later was given the additional duties of layout assistant. She was promoted to senior reporter in May 2004, covering scrap tire, association and commerical/retreading news among many other subjects. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in journalism from Kent State University in August 1997 and previously had worked as an editorial intern for Rubber & Plastics News, a sister publication to Tire Business. 	Lisa Hockensmith, Web Coordinator Lisa joined Tire Business in 2002 as a reporter and was promoted to the additional post of Web coordinator in 2005. In 2007 Lisa was promoted to Web coordinator for both Tire Business and Rubber & Plastics News, devoting a majority of her time to Internet-related activities such as managing online content and planning new designs and features. She graduated summa cum laude from Kent State University with bachelor's degrees in both journalism and English. Lisa first joined Crain Communications Inc. as an intern reporter with Plastics News and rejoined the company after working as the business reporter for the Times Herald newspaper in Port Huron, Mich. 	Kathy McCarron, Reporter Kathy rejoined the Tire Business staff in September 2006 as a part-time reporter. She previously had worked for Tire Business from 1991 to 1997 as a staff reporter. From 1997 to 2006, she continued to write on a freelance basis for both Tire Business and Rubber & Plastics News. Kathy earned a bachelor's degree in communications/mass media from the University of Akron and also worked for a daily newspaper in nearby Ravenna, Ohio, prior to joining Tire Business. 	William Schertz, Reporter William graduated in August 2007 from Kent State University with a bachelor's degree in magazine journalism. While attending the university, he worked on the staff of the school's independent student newspaper, covering beats such as technology, public affairs and buildings and grounds. 	Chris Harris, Associate Publisher/National Sales Director Chris, who has been the national sales manager of Tire Business since 1993, was promoted to the additional post of associate publisher in January 2007. He joined Crain Communications Inc. in 1988 as the Midwest sales manager for Rubber & Plastics News. Prior to joining Crain, Chris held sales positions at the Akron Beacon Journal and radio station WDBN. 	Jennifer Hazen, Classified Sales/Special Project Manager Jennifer joined Crain Communications Inc. in 1993 as a classified sales assistant with Plastics News. Later that year, she joined Tire Business as classified sales representative. In 1998 she was promoted to the additional post of special projects manager, where she oversees group advertising projects, online directory advertising, additional print advertising clients and new advertising opportunities. 	Mark Holman, Display Sales Representative Mark joined Tire Business in 2004 as a display sales representative responsible for display advertising sales for the East and West Coasts and the Midwest regions. Mark is a 15-year veteran of sales in the automotive and retreading industries, including posts with BG Products, Hunter Engineering Co., Presti Rubber Products, Myers Tire Supply and Jasper Engines and Transmissions. Mark also worked for Patrick Media Group, a national outdoor billboard company, where he won the company's President Award for sales achievement. Contact Mark at mholman@crain.com.
	Lori DiFrancesco, Sales/Editorial Assistant Lori joined Crain Communications Inc. in 1995 as the Tire Business and Rubber & Plastics News editorial assistant. In 2004 she added responsibilities with the sales staffs for both publications. In her editorial roles, Lori handles reader requests such as reprints and helps compile survey information.
