LEESBURG, Va. (Aug. 1, 2014) — The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) has elected Mark Polke of Robert Bosch L.L.C. to serve on the ASE board of governors.
Mr. Polke, director of service workshop concepts and technical support services for Bosch’s Aftermarket Division, brings more than 30 years of aftermarket experience to the board, including 20 years at Bridgestone Americas as territory sales, operations manager, area sales manager and regional marketing manager.
Prior to that, he spent several years as an owner/operator and in other capacities in independent repair shops.
“I look forward to working with the board to help shape the future of ASE,” Mr. Polke said. “Like ASE, Bosch is committed to providing high-quality training that equips technicians with the knowledge and skills to keep them current on the constantly changing technologies in today’s vehicles.”
ASE President and CEO Tim Zilke said, “The commitment of ASE’s all-volunteer board and the ongoing support by the companies that encourage such talented people to serve are vital to ensuring the ASE program keeps pace with our changing industry.”
Mr. Polke will be one of 27 delegates on the ASE’s board of governors. ASE did not say at this time whom he’s replacing; the terms are for three years.
Glen Dahl, senior coordinator, technical education, for Bridgestone Retail Operations (BSRO), is the chairman of the board.
The institute was established in 1972 as a non-profit organization to help improve the quality of automotive service and repair through voluntary testing and certification of automotive technicians and parts specialists.
There are more than 330,000 ASE-certified professionals at work in the marketplace.
