BOWIE, Md. — Matthew White, director of tire service for the Tire Industry Association (TIA), will be a keynote speaker at the Latin American & Caribbean Tyre Expo in Panama City, Panama,  July 23-25.

Mr. White’s presentation—“TIA Tire Technician Training: Tire Safety Starts Here”—is scheduled for 10:45 a.m. July 24 in the Salon Portobello on the second floor of the ATLAPA Convention Center in Panama City, TIA said.

Also, the association will have a booth (#M734) at the expo, which will be manned by Mr. White and TIA Executive Vice President Roy Littlefield.

This marks the fifth anniversary of the expo and the second year of TIA’s participation in it, according to TIA. In 2013, the expo attracted more than 3,000 tire dealers from more than 85 countries, it said.

Titan International and the United Steelworkers union have petitioned the U.S. International Trade Commission and U.S. Department of Commerce seeking relief from OTR tire imports from China, India and Sri Lanka. What’s your opinion?

I oppose any duties against tire importers—they only raise costs for distributors and make it harder to obtain inventory.
