WHITE, Ga. (July 8, 2014) — Ford Motor Co. has selected the Toyo Open Country A/T II — sourced from the Toyo Tire North America Manufacturing Inc. plant in White — as an OE fitment on the car maker's F-250 and F-350 heavy-duty pickups.
Ford will fit the Open Country A/T II in size LT 275/65R20 126S as standard equipment on the 2014 and 2015 King Ranch models, according to Toyo Tire & Rubber Co. Ltd.
Toyo Tire U.S.A. Corp. launched the Open County A/T II as a replacement tire in the North American market in August 2012 and sold more than 1 million units of the tire in less than a year, according to the company.
This is Toyo’s first OE contract with Ford and the first U.S.-produced tires to be delivered OE, Toyo said.
The King Ranch version comes with either a 6.2-liter gasoline V8 or a 6.7-liter V8 turbodiesel, according to Ford, and is available in standard, super or crew cab.
Titan International and the United Steelworkers union have petitioned the U.S. International Trade Commission and U.S. Department of Commerce seeking relief from OTR tire imports from China, India and Sri Lanka. What’s your opinion?
|I wholeheartedly support their action – something needs to be done.||
|I think it’s a bad idea that could inevitably tie the hands of domestic tire makers.||
|I oppose any duties against tire importers—they only raise costs for distributors and make it harder to obtain inventory.||
|I’m kind of on the fence and not sure what’s right, but need more information before deciding.||
|I don’t really care whether or not relief is granted.||
