Rowe retires from Bridgestone, ATMC

LEESBURG, Va. (May 8, 2014) — The Automotive Training Managers Council (ATMC) has elected Holly Gerke, director of technical training for Penske Truck Leasing Co. L.P., to chair its board of directors, succeeding Darrell Rowe, who stepped down recently after retiring from Bridgestone Americas Retail Operations.

Ms. Gerke, who was elected vice chair last November, will serve out the remainder of Mr. Rowe’s 2014 term, the ATMC said, and is eligible for re-election to a term in 2015.

She is the third female to serve in the leadership position in the council's 30-year history. Previously Bonnie Karim of the U.S. Postal Service served in 2002 and Janine Sine of TRW Automotive Inc. in 1988.

“The work that is done by ATMC is powerful for our industry,” Ms. Gerke said, “and I look forward to helping lead this organization as it continues to support the members in their efforts to provide high-quality training.”

Mr. Rowe, who retired in January as director, education and development at Bridgestone Retail, had served on the ATMC board since 2009, previously holding the treasurer and vice chair positions. He worked for more than 40 years at Bridgestone, including 29 devoted to education and development for automotive retail sales, management and technical associates.

He now heads Rowe & Associates Consulting in Chicago.

The ATMC is a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of training and professional development within the auto and truck service industry.
