RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. (May 2, 2014) — Chrysler Group L.L.C. has selected Kumho Tire U.S.A. Inc.’s All-Season Solus TA31 tires for OE fitment on select 2015 Chrysler 200 models.

Kumho said it’s expanding its partnership with Chrysler by supplying the Solus TA31, in size 235/45R18 94V, as OE on select front-wheel- and all-wheel-drive Chrysler 200 models. The deal took effect beginning in March.

The Grand Touring All-Season Solus TA31—which fits a wide range of coupes and sedans—features a symmetric tread design, according to the Rancho Cucamonga-based tire marketer, “and meets consumer desire for excellent ride comfort while maintaining a very low noise threshold.”

The midsize Chrysler 200 sedan is produced in Chrysler’s Sterling Heights, Mich., plant. The vehicle features a “dynamic stance, wind-swept profile, finely sculpted curves and aggressive wheel-to-body proportions,” Kumho said, resulting “in a sophisticated road presence.”

Titan International and the United Steelworkers union have petitioned the U.S. International Trade Commission and U.S. Department of Commerce seeking relief from OTR tire imports from China, India and Sri Lanka. What’s your opinion?

I wholeheartedly support their action – something needs to be done.

I think it’s a bad idea that could inevitably tie the hands of domestic tire makers.

I oppose any duties against tire importers—they only raise costs for distributors and make it harder to obtain inventory.

I’m kind of on the fence and not sure what’s right, but need more information before deciding.

I don’t really care whether or not relief is granted.
