SOMERSET, N.J. (March 19, 2014) — The Beumer Group’s tire tray transportation and sortation system was nominated for Tire Manufacturing Innovation of the Year by the organizers of the 2014 Tire Technology International Awards.
“By eliminating the manual handling of green tires, manufacturers can continually monitor and optimize process efficiency while also enhancing workplace safety,” said Klaus Schafer, managing director at Beumer Group Co. in Crisplant, Germany.
The firm claims it is the first automated green tire handling system of its time. The system was designed specifically to enable tire manufacturers to increase process efficiency and optimize manufacturing costs.
Tires are handled gently because of the delicate materials in green tires. Beumer said they are kept in allocated trays to reduce contact and possible damage.
Beumer Group is the parent company of Beumer Corp., which specializes in the design and supply of palletizing and packing technology, conveying and loading technology and systems, and sortation and distribution systems for logistics and airport baggage handling applications.

Titan International and the United Steelworkers union have petitioned the U.S. International Trade Commission and U.S. Department of Commerce seeking relief from OTR tire imports from China, India and Sri Lanka. What’s your opinion?
|I wholeheartedly support their action – something needs to be done.||
|I think it’s a bad idea that could inevitably tie the hands of domestic tire makers.||
|I oppose any duties against tire importers—they only raise costs for distributors and make it harder to obtain inventory.||
|I’m kind of on the fence and not sure what’s right, but need more information before deciding.||
|I don’t really care whether or not relief is granted.||
