FINDLAY, Ohio (Feb. 21, 2014) — Hercules Tire & Rubber Co. has upgraded the value-added enhancements to its Hercules medium radial truck tire warranty.

The program covers all Hercules brand medium truck tire lines, including its popular H-Series offering.

Hercules said the enhanced warranty took effect on Jan. 1, with the extended replacement period applicable to tires purchased Jan. 1, 2014 or later.

Enhancements include:

c The extended free tire replacement period is extended to 50 percent original tread life if the tire becomes unserviceable due to workmanship or material defects.

c All Hercules brand medium truck tires carry a minimum limited warranty of 60 months coverage against defects in workmanship or material. SmartWay verified tires, signified by the “EcoFT” logo, are now warranted for 72 months.

c Retreading and casing allowances for the first retread have been significantly improved, some by as much as 50 percent.

“Our medium truck offering, especially H-series, has been extremely well-received and has gained tremendous momentum over the past few years,” said Joshua Simpson, Hercules’ vice president of marketing.

“It feels great to be able to thank our customers by giving them this great warranty coverage.”

Titan International and the United Steelworkers union have petitioned the U.S. International Trade Commission and U.S. Department of Commerce seeking relief from OTR tire imports from China, India and Sri Lanka. What’s your opinion?

I wholeheartedly support their action – something needs to be done.

I think it’s a bad idea that could inevitably tie the hands of domestic tire makers.

I oppose any duties against tire importers—they only raise costs for distributors and make it harder to obtain inventory.

I’m kind of on the fence and not sure what’s right, but need more information before deciding.

I don’t really care whether or not relief is granted.
