DUSON, La. (Feb. 14, 2014) — Love’s Travel Stops opened a travel stop in Duson, on I-10 just west of Lafayette, La., on Feb. 13, with an onsite Love’s Truck Tire Care center scheduled to open later this month, the company said.

The stop is Love’s seventh in Louisiana and 310th nationwide, of which 180 have Truck Tire Care centers.

The new travel stop has 91 truck parking spaces, Chester’s International and Wendy’s restaurants, gourmet coffee, snacks, fresh fruit and gift merchandise. Bulk DEF will be available at the pump at all diesel lanes, along with RFID cardless fueling technology, CAT scales, five showers and other amenities to serve professional drivers, the company said.

Love's Travel Stops carry Bridgestone, Firestone, Goodyear, Michelin, BF Goodrich, Yokohama and Aeolus tire brands, plus Michelin Retread Technologies retreads.

“Duson is an ideal addition to our current travel stops in Louisiana,” said Greg Love, co-CEO of Love’s.

“Professional drivers now have another option when traveling between Baton Rouge and Lake Charles along Interstate 10. We look forward to offering the ‘Clean Places, Friendly Faces’ Love’s is known for to more drivers.”

Titan International and the United Steelworkers union have petitioned the U.S. International Trade Commission and U.S. Department of Commerce seeking relief from OTR tire imports from China, India and Sri Lanka. What’s your opinion?

I wholeheartedly support their action – something needs to be done.

I think it’s a bad idea that could inevitably tie the hands of domestic tire makers.

I oppose any duties against tire importers—they only raise costs for distributors and make it harder to obtain inventory.

I’m kind of on the fence and not sure what’s right, but need more information before deciding.
