Yokohama donates to Philippine typhoon victims

TOKYO (Dec. 26, 2013) — Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. and its overseas subsidiaries donated about $125,074 to the Red Cross in their respective countries to support efforts to aid victims of the Typhoon Haiyan that struck the Philippines in November.

In addition to a $47,737 donation by Yokohama Rubber to the Red Cross in Japan, eight group subsidiaries in Germany, China, Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan, Australia and the U.S. contributed a total of $34,371. Three subsidiaries in the Philippines and elsewhere will contribute an additional $42,963, the Tokyo-based tire maker said.

Typhoon Haiyan struck the Philippines on Nov. 8, killing about 6,000 people, injuring more than 27,000 and forcing about 3.9 million residents to evacuate their homes.
