ORLANDO, Fla. (Oct. 22, 2013) — The American Trucking Associations (ATA) is partnering with TransCore Intelligent Transportation Solutions' DAT unit, operator of the trucking industry's oldest and largest spot marketplace, to include data about the spot market for trucking services in ATA's reports.
The reports the ATA issues include its monthly Trucking Activity Report and ATA American Trucking Trends, as well as other information services, the trade group said.
Since March 2013, DAT has provided the ATA with its U.S. Spot Market Freight Index, an early indicator of general truckload freight trends based on exception freight not under long-term contract to carriers, the ATA said. This index is based on an average of 90 million loads and trucks annually for vans, refrigerated trailers and flatbeds.
DAT also provides the ATA with its Spot Market Truckload Rate Index, based on $13 billion of contract transactions and $11 billion of spot transactions involving carriers, shippers and brokers of vans, refrigerated and flatbed freight, the ATA said.
ATA reports and information are available for purchase through ATA Business Solutions.
Titan International and the United Steelworkers union have petitioned the U.S. International Trade Commission and U.S. Department of Commerce seeking relief from OTR tire imports from China, India and Sri Lanka. What’s your opinion?
|I wholeheartedly support their action – something needs to be done.||
|I think it’s a bad idea that could inevitably tie the hands of domestic tire makers.||
|I oppose any duties against tire importers—they only raise costs for distributors and make it harder to obtain inventory.||
|I’m kind of on the fence and not sure what’s right, but need more information before deciding.||
|I don’t really care whether or not relief is granted.||
